Definitive Policy Recommendations for UN
This book offers the most up-to-date and original policy recommendations on how to improve US reputation and effectiveness at the UN. Endorsed by a broad spectrum of foreign policy intellectuals, from left to right, it makes a strong case that without closer cooperation among the world's democracies, the UN will remain hostage to repressive governments who throw sand in the gears of the UN.

Evolution of Fashion: Pattern and Cut from 1066-1930
This book is an excellent aid to stage costume design in that both a picture of the finished design and a basic pattern is provided for each era featured. There is also a detailed description of the fashion of each time, as well as interesting comments on the restrictions each design placed on the wearer. All items of the outfit are addressed including accessories and hairstyles. The fashions are all British with the respective monarch of each period as the header for each page. The drawings are all black and white and the patterns appear a bit compilcated for a beginner to dressmaking. The patterns are mostly at a 1/8:1" scale and supports such as a crinoline design are included rendering the possibility for all patterns to be executed into finish outfits. The book also lists all its source material so further research is possible, if required, into all of the outfits featured. The book fulfils its title in that it provides an overview of the developement of British fashion up to 1930, and is an interesting read at the same time. Its provision of patterns tempts the execution of the garments which include a Henry VIII, Elizabeth I, and Victoria costumes.

Father Behind Bars: A Story of Responsibility That Affects Everyone in America
Published in Paperback by Wrs Pub (February, 1995)
Authors: Arthur Hamilton, William Banks, and Danny Glover
Average review score:

An outstanding book
This book, I found truly remarkable. It shows that prison can reform some people. Mr.Hamilton shows that there is the possibility of rehablilitation in the prison system. The sad part is the death of his mother, and the violent death of his younger brother, that sends him into a life committing crime. His come back however, is remarkable. What he has done for himself and for other immates around the world is good. Helping incarcerated fathers to remain fathers to their children even behind bars. I recommend this book to all those that think the system spends too much of their tax money on people who will never change. It will change your way of thinking.

A thoughtful, scholarly, insightfully informative exam
Ably edited by James Hamilton (University Curator at the University of Birmingham, England), Fields Of Influence: Conjunctions Of Artists And Scientists 1815-1860 is a thoughtful, scholarly, insightfully informative examination of the influence that artists and scientists have had upon each other during a specific era of world history. Black-and-white illustrations bring to clear and appreciative life such artwork as a depiction of the dinosaur Iguanodon, and portraits of various famous scientists and thinkers. A fascinating historical, superbly presented retrospective, Fields Of Influence highly recommended for academicians and the non-specialist general reader with a strong interest in the histories and interactivity of both science and art.

Phenomenal Reading!
I had to purchase this book for my english course, but after only two weeks of reading and discussion I feel such an empowerment by the selections. I wouldn't be able to choose a favorite author because each one is represented so uniquely by their stories. After my class is over, I look forward to sitting down and reading those that were not assigned and re-reading those icons of society that were picked by my professor. If you want a short introduction to various famous authors then this is definitely a book you will enjoy!
